School Year 2022-2023

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As Principal of P723X, it is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to the 2022-2023 school year! I hope your summer went well and that you are excited for the beginning of the new school year. It is our mission to provide your child with a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment where children are challenged and encouraged to be lifelong learners. It is our goal to prepare each child for college and career readiness, providing an environment that includes academic instruction, social skills development and vocational opportunities.

Our curricula is aligned to the Chancellor’s Pillars and the DOE’s Instructional Focus, which is located on our 723X website. We have added books of the month to represent our diverse school community. Each month students will explore a book with diverse character or written by a diverse author. We have staff members trained in Social Emotional Learning, Mindfulness, Restorative Circles and Crisis Intervention and Support. This year we will focus on Social Emotional and Academic Learning within all classrooms within all classrooms through targeted SEL instruction. Additionally, we have been chosen to participate in a Middle School Literacy Initiative to ensure our students are college and career ready.

This year we are fortunate to hire two Teacher Leaders to support teachers in creating strategic targeted instruction for our students.

Please take the time to read the student handbook enclosed with this letter so that you can become familiar with our school organization, school hours, school uniform, school procedures/policies, homework policies, parent teacher conference dates, and parent association as well as get involved with our School Leadership Team

Additionally, each child will receive a welcome back parent packet with information that will need to be completed and returned to the school, such as the emergency blue card, and the information on immunization requirements.

Please feel free to call if you have any questions. P723X staff members are eager to start the 2022-2023 school year with you as our partners in your child’s education. On behalf of the P723X Staff we are looking forward to a year that is filled with defiant and unapologetic joy for the entire 723X community!

Sincerely,

Shanté Chunn

Principal
